HOW TO SAVE HUMANITY: 15,000 SCIENTISTS URGE ACTION BEFORE 'VAST HUMAN MISERY' TAKES OVER

Quote:
More than 15,000 scientists signed a warning letter to humanity. Its namesake? "A Second Notice." These experts are warning humanity for the second time against catastrophic biodiversity loss and widespread misery for humans, in a cautionary message for humans to make major changes.

The open letter, signed by 15,364 scientists from 184 countries, was published on Monday in BioScience. The massive group of scientists, led by William J. Ripple of Oregon State University, is pleading for humans to cut greenhouse gas emissions, phase out fossil fuels, reduce deforestation, and reverse the trend of collapsing biodiversity.

“Soon it will be too late to shift course away from our failing trajectory, and time is running out,” the authors concluded. “We must recognize, in our day-to-day lives and in our governing institutions, that Earth with all its life is our only home.”

The reality principle tell us than the necessary measures will be implemented soon, that is after the collapse of our non negotiable life style, the industrial civilization of mass consumption.

Until then we can continue as always, my good brothers and sisters: Consume more ! 8)

And don't forget my dear brothers and sisters to read one chapter of the Holly Publicity a day. :D
The Holly Church of the Green Consumption is sending in HD now, which imply you have no excuse to not consult the Holly Publicity  You will be doomed if you don't!

15,364 parasites are afraid they will lose financing and their jobs? Why don't they do something useful instead.

Please define useful. Science was once a noble and worthy endeavor. Certainly it was also useful, no? The main problem is that it lacks the critical step(s) after the first and prior to profit. Note that I'm not commenting on the quality of research of any individual or group.

Useful like committing themselves to the science, not politics. In the light of published information about manipulating and forging the data these so called "scientific climate studies" qualify as politics, not science for me.

Thanks for clarifying.

To me it still comes back to money and politics being the problem, but with no easy solution. Independent of any specific research, if the issue is a risk of losing money because it is not profitable, then scientists are theoretically forced to engage in politics to get or maintain funding. To be more specific, if weather / climate research is a worthwhile, funding shouldn't be tied to political expedience. Who then determines validity of the research while eliminating politics from the equation? Are you able to scientifically refute the "settled science"? I know I'm not.

The reasonable path forward would seem to be doing what we "reasonably" can to clean up the mess we make in the environment. Extrapolate to a larger scale from concepts like don't litter, pack in / pack out (hiking), etc. Can humans live as densely as do corporate-farmed animals? No. So why not treat the food we eat as if we're concerned about our own health. I could go on, but I hope I've made my point.

I haven't seen it, but I really want to. Especially after checking Rotten Tomatoes this morning. At least, I expect I'll really enjoy it. I've liked all of the DC movies thus far except for Wonder Woman.

Maybe I'll like it. Maybe I'll hate it. What I certainly do not care about, however, is what other people think of it.

Anything in particular? I haven't seen it, just curious. The one complaint I'd heard was too much slow motion every time she moved. Everyone else liked it a lot.

There was nothing to think about while watching, and I have no reason to ever go back and see it again. The entire movie was explained the first time through, and that bores me.

Ah, right. May have had that discussion already (or maybe it was another movie).

So the plot thickens. 15000 scientists from 184 countries were bribed and/or pressured to make these false declarations. There must be some powerful forces at play here to benefit from this.

I think the audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes should be just as telling as the critic scores:

Thor: Ragnarok - 89%
Justice League - 86%

Now Justice League already has 89,809 user votes on its first day where as Thor has only 74,124 after screening for much longer.

We'll see if this holds for Justice League, because right now it just looks like the loyal DC fan base coming out in support.

I hate echo-chamber consensus. Off in one echo chamber we've had the same type of scientists professing that we're all going to be dead in several years. Then in a different echo chamber, we've got professional critics (LOL) saying that shit movies are good and that good movies are shit.

I recently read or watched something suggesting that echo chamber was no longer accurate, and that amplification chamber was more correct.

1. 7,000 more user ratings have poured in, and the film is holding steady at 86% approval.
2. Despite Al Gore, planet earth is still...well...planet earth.
