Oh, yes!

The base GTI is a bargain.

Not only does it have powered lumbar support, it's got heated seats.

Thanks. I oculdn't tell if that was just an option on some models. The discounts do make it more interesting. I'm curious about the paddle shifters.

Generally VW's DSG automatic gearbox is considered good. So, the implications are that the paddle shifters will be good also.

No, you can get the Edge Sport or Titanium models with a V6 FWD or AWD, and I just read they are coming out with a dual turbocharged 6 cylinder.

We have the 2.0 L dual turbo with the Front Wheel Drive, and it has plenty of power. I have put a bit of miles on it, both city and freeway, and I love it. Nice and comfy, very little body roll for a crossover, and you get it on the freeway, all you have to do is steer and watch out you don't do a lane change with someone there. It does everything else.

For what it is worth, Consumer Reports rates ride quality of several Ford vehicles pretty well. Something to the effect of what you'd expect from a luxury car, and in some cases, better. But I find them to be on the pricier side.

But the 6cyl is going away: 2019 Ford Edge: Four-Cylinder Only, More Standard Safety Tech.

OTOH, they are introducing an ST version.
