Since a recent update, okular renders text and images in very poor quality. Here is a screenshot of some text rendered with okular:
https://ibb.co/hfy7fm
and the same text on the same scale rendered with acrobat reader:

The text in both cases is Figure 4 (I just realized that it looks like part of the web page).
Is there any setting that I missed which changes this behavior?

You have not loaded the images to that location. |

Did you upgrade to Freetype 2.8.1? What happens if you go back to Freetype 2.8.0? |

Still the same with Freetype 2.8.0. It's also worth noting that only Okular has these font rendering problems. All other programs render fonts just fine. |

I found the reason for the pixelated rendering: I have a high-dpi laptop display and used Code: | System Settings -> Displays -> Scale Displays -> Scale = 1.5 | . The problem persists with any of the possible choices in Code: | System Settings -> Compositor -> Scale Method | . It's better with Scale = 2 and does not exist with Scale = 1. But given the resolution of my display, I really would like to use Scale = 1.5. There is already a bug report upstream:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384031
I hope they will fix it soon. |
