Hi.
I updated gentoo stable on my laptop yesterday, and encountered a rather strange problem: xdm will not start any more. This is the error I get:
Code:
/etc/X11/startDM.sh line26: get_options: command not found
start-stop-deamon: option '--exec' requires an argument

Here's what I did so far to try to fix the problem:
1. I checked if get_options exists: it does, and it is where it's supposed to be: /lib/rc/bin
2. I checked to what package it belongs: openrc
3. Since it was updated yestartay from version 0.28 to 0.32, I downgraded it to see if helps: it did not.
4. I triple checked if the rc.conf file was updated properly during the down/upgrade of openrc: did not help.
5. As per suggestion from 2 years ago, I did this: did not help.
Code:
bash -c 'echo "ROOTPATH=\"/lib/rc/bin\"" >/etc/env.d/99local'

6. checked if portage reported any unusual things in the emerge.log: everything seems normal
7. checked if other system related packages were updated: gentoolkit, repoman, portage-utils, baselayout, coreutils, xinit

From these packages, I would put my bet on baselayout if I had to point out another possible culprit behind this, but I'm really open to suggestions here.
I'm not sure where to look now, so any input would be highly appreciated.
If you need more info, just let me know.

Thanks a lot guys.

Resync and update world. Xinit needs to be updated due to some silly games with openrc

Thanks. Updating xinit actually worked. I don't know if it is the new(er) version or the remerge, but it fixed it.
Marked the thread as solved.

Thanks again.
