PostPosted: Sun Oct 15, 2017 9:35 pm    Post subject: I can't emerge -uD world! [SOLVED] Reply with quote

On Sundays (today) I emerge --sync and emerge -avuD world. This morning when I did that, my emerge -avuD world fails. I'm not exactly sure why. I suspect a python problem, but as I don't know python, I can't be sure. Here's my info:

Code:

caitlyn / # emerge -avuD world

The problem occurs immediately after it checks if 4GB is available for firefox (which failed last Sunday) I should have plenty of room:

Code:

caitlyn / # df -h
Filesystem      Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sdc4        97G   33G   60G  36% /
cgroup_root     3.9G     0  3.9G   0% /sys/fs/cgroup
devtmpfs        3.9G     0  3.9G   0% /dev
tmpfs           3.9G  1.1M  3.9G   1% /dev/shm

I tried remerging python itself, which merged without a problem. I tried re-merging portage, which also didn't have a problem. I didn't understand what that KeyError thing was, so I tried to emerge xdg-utils, which failed without even trying because of the KeyError issue. Any advice that can be given to help resolve this issue will be appreciated. Thank you in advance to all who are willing to try to help me with this issue...

suggest emerge python-updater and then running it.
https://wiki.python.org/moin/KeyError may be of interest.

Apparently /var/db/pkg/x11-misc/xdg-utils-1.1.1-r1 exists, but it is not a directory. Go ahead and remove it, and the problem should go away. Maybe filesystem corruption caused this?

I think that fixed it. It wasn't a directory. I removed it and manually remerged the package, and it merged successfully.
