I just did rm -rvf /var/lib/mysql.
Yes, I know. I am an absent-minded moron and I typed this command mistakenly in a terminal when I thought I was somewhere else where this command would not have affected anything serious. As it was, this was on my production server.
I am ready to @#$%$ing kill myself. This blew multiple live projects out of the water.
How can I fix this? I made mysqldump backups of all my databases right before I did this, as I was getting ready to duplicate my mysql server elsewhere. _________________ Gentoo Studio: A Gentoo-based, professional digital audio workstation OS.

Do you have OS backups which include other files under /var/lib/mysql? I can't remember what is there, but I'm thinking there may be other useful files.
Otherwise I'd test creating a db to see if it will work, and if not, resintall mysql to get /var/lib/mysql properly recreated. Then I'd restore from the dump files. I don't have the scripts I used readily available, but this ought to get you started. _________________ Magna Carta (1215) | Spectral evidence no longer permissible (c. 1792) | Cancel culture, deplatforming (c. 2016) |

Crisis mostly averted. Was able to restore my mysqldumps.
Goddammit. I'm sending my brain to jail. _________________ Gentoo Studio: A Gentoo-based, professional digital audio workstation OS. |
