Good morning all!

I'm trying to install Gentoo on my HTPC (EFI) but as the topic shows, for some reason it can not mount my hard drive during the boot process. I've disconnected all my drives except for my SSD drive which currently has Windows installed on it. When I type fdisk /dev/sda it sees the drive, but when I type mount /dev/sda it does not see it in fstab. I've only tried the sysrescue cd because of uefi. I've seen that it's possible to install Gentoo EFI from USB and the minimal install cd but I like the convenience of the gparted gui tool the sysrescue CD has. Anyone run into this issue before? Work arounds?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

FrankRizz0,

You don't normally mount whole drives, you mount the partition.

mount /dev/sda would be unusual

mount /dev/sda1, the first partition on sda would be more usual.
You can have several (lots) partitions on a drive.

Thanks Neddy for the reply. I decided to use another installation medium (LiveDVD). I was able to boot into UEFI mode and also have access to the gparted gui. System number 6 getting a fresh Gentoo install :-)
