OMG, TLDR! How did that happen? I was mostly hoping these videos would inspire a sense of curiosity and wonder about this stuff. All too often math is approached as this difficult subject to be avoided if possible and to be worked through drudgingly when unavoidable, dry and devoid of "fun".
Oh, I find math very interesting and compelling. But unfortunately, the brute force drudgery used to teach it isn't how I learn, so I kind of hit my ceiling. Factoring and quadratic equations beyond simple to moderate complexity are where I hit my wall. I've thought about trying again, but time and money and all that. Especially given the likelihood of encountering the same teaching methods.

It seems to me nothing short of a miracle that it all works out like it does, that it all hangs together, and that all these different approaches all lead to the same place. Like there is a universal, fundamental truth to it all. The satisfaction that, for once, you can actually *know* something.
I agree completely. Well, except for that last part, since I'd first have to learn a lot more. :)

Prison inmates were put in a room with nothing but a camera. I didn’t expect them to be so real.

Unfortunate choice of message at the end, but despite that, notice the intended recipient of of what the prisoners are saying.

A free to watch vsauce with great music to it (pjp?). It takes up the social, psychological part of taking action in a life and death situation.
How many lives will you spare if you had the choice. The Trolley Problem with a real experiment, done for the first time(?)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sl5KJ69qiA

Don't forget to enjoy the emo-music. So much better convincing you dumb asses.

I generally like their videos, but so far, I'm skeptical. In the sidewalk test, I'd first want to take a defensive driving course. Then I try taking out all 3 dummies by sliding the car sideways.

For the trolley problem, pulling the lever is a deliberate choice to murder a single person. NOT pulling the lever results in death, but does not result in willful murder.

It is also a poorly constructed artificial scenario because it presumes that all 5 people would stand there without moving. Maybe only one would lose a foot. The people chose to be on the tracks. I'd yell, try throwing a rock or something. Maybe. Or I'd turn up the volume on my headphones and keep going. (Still watching, just had to point out those "problems").

I'll add that I think a more compelling study would be what scientists and ethics boards think is "ethical."

I can agree it is a problem to make the trolly problem justice. Especially in the world of today.
I find it still a stepping stone and maybe they will learn from how they made the selection process as well as conducting the test.

As someone stated, the psycholog and the testers 'failing' tried to make the test more of than what it was.
vsauce was quite critic stating that the test was a bit surprising and not as expected. Then went off about perhaps the method could be tweaked (or some such).

Btw - Auto driving cars? Maybe, but not "today", I say, I say!
EDIT: If I was there, I would probably let things be, 9/10 times. Being responsible for one's death IS true in that moment.

Turbo Roundabout (most ridiculous?). There are some impressive designs: Diverging Windmill, Pniavia, Trubine.

Traffic flow measured on 30 different 4-way junctions
