:D

The Knopfler track is very nice. And the Rathbone reference is greatly appreciated. The piece he keeps "playing" in the movie is a personal favorite of mine, Chopin prelude in D minor, op. 28 no. 24. But when Basil "plays" it, his left hand looks like he's crank starting a model T. As much as I tried, the actual notes Chopin wrote for the left hand never allowed my left hand to make that motion :(

I thought the character in the song was a musician, not an actor. Are you referring to a Dorian Gray movie? I don't recall any piano playing from the book, though I may just not recall tha tpart.

Sorry, brain fart. Hurd Hatfield was the actor in the Dorian Grey movie. Rathbone was Sherlock Holmes.

From the movie...

I had to read the summary to remember her character. I still only vaguely do, so it was probably mentioned in the book and I'm not remembering that scene (or the general depction of something like it).

And I do believe that is the first time I've seen a non-grandmotherly Angela Lansbury.

I just heard a long way of Joss Stone World Tour with every kind of musician you can think of. Mostly she was a 5% over motivated singing with the locals. But here she felt at home: This Belfast Blues with No Oil Paintings of course in a pub in Northern Ireland.

The tag line "high tech, low life" seems a likely accurate summary of why I've yet to find anything in the genre at all compelling. Combined with just enough future-that-could-be, and I can't imagine why anyone enjoys it (much like the original The Office).

This really is incredible: A big chunk of a people of millions became professional unresters. I pessimisticly thought Beijing would silence the city of Hongkong with the advent of the 70y anniversary of the peoples republic of China.

If you are politically informed the first quarter of the talk is booring.
But it becomes more exciting by the minute. I promise you.

Interestingly the Beijing CGTN network tries different tactics about the Hongkong unrest:
1. They totally ignored it for months
2. They propagated the cruelty and violence which might have happened by the protesters
3. Now they try to emotionally split the Hongkong protest into non-violent and violent activists (in phase 2 all of the protesters were shown as cruel and as traitors).

China is a horrific dystopian nightmare. I really feel badly for all of its victims.

I really fear we all may become victims of a growing economical super power China with their heavy load of an AI, which nobody else in the world can data feed but such a regime.

Very good point. And with their total cataloging of all the social media posts, et al of the Chinese people, the sheer amount of data that China has to work with their AI puts them at a huge advantage in that field. What holds them back is their ideology and demand that people adhere to it. So you'll get engineers in jobs who are there because they are Maoists rather than the best choice because of pure skill.
