Chamath Palihapitiya, Founder and CEO Social Capital, on Money as an Instrument of Change
Comments at the time regarding social media apps and society. I thought he had some interesting comments throughout the whole interview, including "Progressive Capitalism."
It is left as an exercise for the viewer to choose where to lol.
wikipedia wrote: | joined Facebook, which at the time was a little more than a year old.[2] Palihapitiya's work at Facebook involved trying to increase Facebook's userbase.[3]
Palihapitiya claims to have joined Facebook with a contempt for people who merely write code, but his experience at Facebook led him to revise his beliefs.[4] One of the things Palihapitiya admired about Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's principal founder and CEO, was Zuckerberg's lack of ego and his ability to avoid letting personal ego get in the way of business decisions. |

This is more on the interesting side of the things Google does, but I think there's a bit of the uncanny valley in it.
GOOGLE MAPS’S MOAT
How far ahead of Apple Maps is Google Maps? Quote: | Google is creating data out of data. | Quote: | Google has gathered so much data, in so many areas, that it’s now crunching it together and creating features that Apple can’t make—surrounding Google Maps with a moat of time. | (To clarify, it isn't that Apple can never create it, just that they can't now because of how far behind they appear to be.) _________________ I can saw a woman in two, but you won't want to look in the box when I'm through.

It almost seems like these articles are now a requisite entry in the web author's portfolio.
Your smartphone is making you stupid, antisocial and unhealthy. So why can't you put it down❔⁉️
Maybe now business will finally recognize they ought to stop interrupting people trying to do their job: Quote: | Business leaders are grappling with the issue, too. In a recent blog post, Bank of England analyst Dan Nixon argues that the distraction wrought by smartphones may be hurting productivity. It takes office workers an average of 25 minutes to get back on task after an interruption, he notes, while workers who are habitually interrupted by e-mail become likelier to "self-interrupt" with little procrastination breaks. |
Also notable:
Quote: | "We're not developing the attention muscles in our brain nearly as much as we used to," he said. In fact, Prof. Ratey has noticed a convergence between his ADD patients and the rest of the world. The symptoms of people with ADD and people with smartphones are "absolutely the same," he said. |

My dad's generation had it right. Their meetings consisted of copious amounts of adult beverage. I remember as a teenager, my dad's office had a small freakin' bar; as did all the top execs. _________________ The further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those who speak it.

To better fast-track this, all departments are encouraged to submit proposals for efficientizing interactive multi-paradigm collaboration and information-sharing without distracting from an individual's focus on their focus of attention. Proposals are to be submitted to the newly-formed focus-retention proposal selection committee. This committee, comprised of randomly-selected current employees on a rotating basis, is envisioned to encompass 10-12% of the workforce at any given time, ensuring a diversity of voices and concerns across all departments can be heard and accommodated.
We look forward to hearing your suggestions. Together we can intensify our focus on attention-focus and incentivize work-habits and situations leading to the embetterment of efficiently-focused task-oriented accomplishment metrics, backed by distributed blockchain technology, and designed to propel our work-flow into a new realm of possibility.
Thank you,

About to be raided by the feds? Just "digitally shred" the evidence. Quote: | But Uber's addition is the remote-lockdown service: Rather than relying on timeouts and general encryption, Uber explicitly built a system to counter police raids. |

As if there wasn't enough reason to use ad blockers...
Now even YouTube serves ads with CPU-draining cryptocurrency miners Quote: | YouTube was recently caught displaying ads that covertly leach off visitors' CPUs and electricity to generate digital currency on behalf of anonymous attackers, it was widely reported.
Word of the abusive ads started no later than Tuesday, as people took to social media sites to complain their antivirus programs were detecting cryptocurrency mining code when they visited YouTube. The warnings came even when people changed the browser they were using, and the warnings seemed to be limited to times when users were on YouTube. |

Seattle finds Facebook in violation of city campaign finance law, and the city is threatening to fine the company if they do not disclose who was buying ads on Facebook.

As much as I could never move to the northwest unless I was terminally ill, I wish more companies were held accountable. Particularly those "too big to fail." _________________ I can saw a woman in two, but you won't want to look in the box when I'm through.

But, George Soros says that Facebook is too big to not fail, and he is the most well regarded expert on big business in the world, right? (Though, perhaps, that question mark is facing the wrong way.) |

Well, there is a valid point. Unless I've missed something, Google's dominance is in ads. So regulation could alter the playing field sufficiently to not bust them into pieces.
And I can want to believe that the unwashed masses will eventually snap out of their dopamine stupor, can't I? People moved on from AOL, and that seemed unlikely for a while. _________________ I can saw a woman in two, but you won't want to look in the box when I'm through.

Aside from the part about wanting to regulate them into submission, he also made a point of noting that facebook is on pace to have literally everyone who has access to it signed up for an account within the next few years, as though that was itself a harbinger of the demise of facebook. |

My guess is an underlying interest in having the "global problem" better advocate for the changes he'd like to see. If the companies were influencing to his preference, he wouldn't be concerned. On the plus side, he's 87. _________________ I can saw a woman in two, but you won't want to look in the box when I'm through.

Go on google.translate.com on this from swedish to english and you get NULL:
'Honkönad' ( eng: Female, feminin gendered )
'Hankönad' ( eng: Male, manly gendered )
This is/was scientifical concepts.
..I might gotten something on the back foot, but I think this is PC in the works though.
This is a reference: http://tyda.se/search/manlig
Search for 'hankönad'
