$ keyctl add user "testing" "somedata" @u
653010022
$ keyctl read 653010022
keyctl_read_alloc: Permission denied
I was chasing a problem in some software that used kernel keys, and ultimately I can reproduce the root issue from the command line like this. I've tested this on LOADS of linux machines, and none of them do this except mine.
I have no idea what could possibly warrant this. Other than CONFIG_KEYS, i have no clue what else would even be relevant.
Kernel: 4.9.34
CONFIG_KEYS=y
Any ideas?

I really have no actual clue, but it seems to me you may need to add your user to some group? |

Just tried openrc, works fine... it's definitely that bug. I guess you can call this [SOLVED] even though it's still broken. |
