Hi,

For a bit over a month now I have had this issue of X11 crashing while moving cursor over to second monitor.
I don't remember specific version I was running when it first happened, now I seem to have upgraded everything to latest, nothing has changed:

Code:
[ebuild   R   *] x11-base/xorg-drivers-9999::gentoo  INPUT_DEVICES="evdev -acecad -aiptek -elographics -fpit -hyperpen -joystick -keyboard -libinput -mouse -mutouch -penmount -synaptics -tslib -vmmouse -void -wacom" VIDEO_CARDS="i965 intel -amdgpu -ast -dummy -epson -fbdev (-fglrx) (-freedreno) (-geode) -glint -i915 -mga -nouveau -nv -nvidia (-omap) -qxl -r128 -radeon -radeonsi -siliconmotion -tdfx (-tegra) (-vc4) -vesa -via -virtualbox -vmware (-voodoo)" 0 KiB

Setup is fairly simple, i7 4790k with intel GPU, i3 as wm. When crash happens I don't see anything outstanding in Xorg.0.log or dmesg.

I also used to have this 20-intel.conf in xorg.conf.d which fixed terrible screen tearing in past, but disabled for now:

Code:
Section "Device"
   Identifier  "Intel Graphics"
   Driver      "intel"
   Option      "TearFree"    "true"
EndSection

Box has two more nvidia GPU's, but they are PCI stubbed and shoudn't be initialized in host system where X is crashing. Those are for VM passing and works just fine since I had those enabled years ago.
I have tried to run X11 from tty console to see if it outputs anything upon crash, but it didn't, just handful of applications complaining X11 has gone.
Don't know what else I should provide, I can reproduce issue fairly easily while moving mouse over screens.

Usually, when we ask people to try the latest version, we mean a released tagged version from upstream. You emerged a live ebuild, so the output provided is not sufficient for us to determine exactly what code you installed. Even if it was, VCS snapshots are often harder to support and, if you are unlucky, may contain serious bugs that would be fixed upstream before the next release. Can you reproduce this using a tagged release? What is the callstack at the time of the crash?

Look for a segfault message in dmesg; that should at least point to which part of X is causing the crash.

OK, with the help of IRC I managed to roll back to more sensible versions:

It still crashes and I don't see anything worthwhile in dmesg, here is Xorg.0.log

While figuring this out, I managed to lock system completely, no logins, even with SSH.
Meanwile upgraded kernel to 4.12.4-gentoo and tested out 3 different WM's, i3, awesome-wm and windowmaker, they all crash in same pattern, while moving mouse between screens, takes from 10 seconds to one minute of repeated movement.
What else should I try?

Try to collect a backtrace so that we can at least know which package is faulting.

Hi,

I emerged x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.99.917_p20170313::gentoo and it hasn't crashed since.
Wiki page (https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Intel) says that with xorg-server 1.19 ( which I have ) with use flag i965 should depracate it, so I don't know which one is in use anymore.
