After I emerged it I get this

ETH0 UNPLUGGED OR NO CARRIER CHECK CABLE

Did this happen to anyone else, it was the latest upgrade?

I can still type dhcpcd eth0 and sshd when I login to root. And the config file is correct.

:(

I'm having the same issue... and pulling my hair out over it.

Couple o' questions (assuming you've run etc-update and merged all appropriate updates);

What type of sparc (sparc32 or sparc64)?

What program is posting this message and where do you most often see it?

Another important question:

Do you have the Cat5 plugged in?

Didn't realize I posted to the SPARC board.... I'm running x86 but encountered the same problem... something in the baselayout-1.8.6.12 's net.eth0 script is borked. I re-emerge 1.8.6.11 and overwrote the net.eth0 script, then upgraded 10 1.8.6.12 and KEPT the old script and everything works fine... A valuable lesson hath been learnt today/yestarday..... do not try to troubleshoot & post to message boards after returning from the Haufbrauhaus!

Sparc 64 Ultra 5

Happens when I bootup, but I just had to reinstall everything (if you noticed the post in another thread) thanks to a power spike that fried the HD. And decided to not let it update the net.eth0 file and it works fine.

And yah ;) The Cat-5 is plugged in
