the Saudi goal is to spread Wahhabism across the Muslim world. This strain of Wahhabism justifies the absolute power of the Saudi Royal Family. The Saudi royal families interests align with the interests of the USA. ISIS are also Wahhabi, but do not recognize the absolute power of the king.

This is a class conflict between the poor and the wealthy, with religion being used as a tool on both sides. "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed".

Doesn't sound like class conflict to me.

I partly agree with sugar. For me it's not limited to the muslim world. Saudi rulers do sponsor mosques allover the place and what comes with this. Or so I have heard...

So, by pulling out of an agreement (in which countries set their own targets, and there's no mechanism to enforce these targets), Trump flubs an easy win.

I'm sure he'll try and take the credit for the reduction in the future.

Basic economics, the analysts say, suggest that the US will exceed its commitments in the Paris agreement regardless of whether or not president Donald Trump withdraws, as he’s stated he will.

The drive to a renewable future will be Obama's lasting legacy.

The US is expected to meet the Paris agreement "targets" regardless of being a signatory, correct?

Climate Alarmism disagrees...
Quote:
OSLO, July 26 (Reuters) - Scientists are sucking carbon dioxide from the air with giant fans and preparing to release chemicals from a balloon to dim the sun's rays as part of a climate engineering push to cool the planet.

Backers say the risky, often expensive projects are urgently needed to find ways of meeting the goals of the Paris climate deal to curb global warming that researchers blame for causing more heatwaves, downpours and rising sea levels.

The United Nations says the targets are way off track and will not be met simply by reducing emissions for example from factories or cars - particularly after U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the 2015 pact.

'Dodgy' greenhouse gas data threatens Paris accord

http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-40669449

Quote:
Potent, climate-warming gases are being emitted into the atmosphere but are not being recorded in official inventories, a BBC investigation has found.

...
Levels of some emissions from India and China are so uncertain that experts say their records are plus or minus 100%.

A report in 2015 suggested one error in China's statistics amounted to 10% of global emissions in 2013.

gogo Paris accord. So how again was this meant to clean things up?

They can't take the human element out of anthropogenic. People are not risking their lives emigrating to lower carbon footprint economies.

Aaaaaaaand China are building up tonnes of Coal powrplants

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-45640706
Quote:
Building work has restarted at hundreds of Chinese coal-fired power stations, according to an analysis of satellite imagery.

The research, carried out by green campaigners CoalSwarm, suggests that 259 gigawatts of new capacity are under development in China.

The authors say this is the same capacity to produce electricity as the entire US coal fleet.

The study says government attempts to cancel many plants have failed.

According to this study, there was a surge in new coal projects approved at provincial level in China between 2014 and 2016. This happened because of a decentralisation programme that shifted authority over coal plant construction approvals to local authorities.

The report says that at present China has 993 gigawatts of coal power capacity, but the approved new plants would increase this by 25%.

Remember China is a signatory of the Paris accord AND remember *IF* you bothered to read it...
1) China are permitted to increase emissions
2) China are to be paid by the rest of the world for increasing emissions

How was the Paris accord cutting emissions again?
