Prevent RTL8192 Drivers From Loading (x100e)

Is there any way to prevent the drivers for the RTL wireless card from loading when booting a minimal installation environment on a Thinkpad x100e? I swapped the card out for a whitelisted Atheros card (AR5B95) but the minimal installation image keeps loading drivers for the card, even though it's no longer there and I think that it may be stopping the Atheros card from being able to scan for a wireless network, even though the Atheros drivers are loaded and the machine appears to see the card.

Try https://sysresccd.org instead of "minimal installation image". It should have much better wireless support.

Systemrescuecd seems to result in hardblocking the card. Still loads the RTL drivers too.

After booting can you unload the driver and install the correct one with "rmmod and modprobe"?

rmmod rtl8192 && modprobe -v ath5k

Assuming those are the correct module names.
