when i do emerge -inject kde
does this setting go away after rsync or how can i reverse this command?

Why would you want to --inject? If you don't know what your doing, it's a dangerous option.

Perhaps I'm just getting an 'itchy reply finger' but I think you can do an "emerge unmerge kde" to get rid of an "emerge inject kde". It shouldn't go away after you rsync. Inject should only be used if you are installing the packages in some way other than with portage. This allows portage to not complain about dependancies for a package that you manually installed. It's a powerful option and could certainly mess up your system because it's basically a way to fool the native package management system of your OS.
