I recently updated Mate on my system and now it won't mount my Android phone. Plugging in the phone results in several beeps from the phone, if I set the phone to file transfer mode, I get several more beeps and vibration notifications, and it is back to charge only mode.

dmesg shows the following (I have removed the serial number, but nothing else):
Code:
[134051.395278] usb 1-3: new high-speed USB device number 30 using ehci-pci
[134051.528361] usb 1-3: New USB device found, idVendor=1004, idProduct=631c
[134051.528366] usb 1-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3

[134052.227250] usb 1-3: reset high-speed USB device number 30 using ehci-pci
[134052.368461] usb 1-3: usbfs: process 6245 (ThreadWeaver::T) did not claim interface 0 before use
[134052.487200] usb 1-3: reset high-speed USB device number 30 using ehci-pci
[134052.624940] usb 1-3: usbfs: process 31553 (pool) did not claim interface 0 before use
[134052.739175] usb 1-3: reset high-speed USB device number 30 using ehci-pci
[134052.884281] usb 1-3: usbfs: process 31553 (pool) did not claim interface 0 before use
[134052.999171] usb 1-3: reset high-speed USB device number 30 using ehci-pci

This used to work until I upgraded from Mate 1.12 to 1.18.

Can you access that phone via adb?
And did you check the cable?

After a reboot, seems to be working OK.

.. and a day or two later, it's back to the same behaviour: lots of beeps and vibration, but no mount.

Update: if I shut down the vnc session (vncserver) that is also running on my desktop, then the phone filesystems are mounted.
