I was wondering if there should be an i486 stage 3?
I figure I should see how well my i486 would run a uclibc-ng Gentoo install, currently I have a full (and outdated) glibc gentoo install based off a i486 stage3...
Anyone went down this path and found it to work just fine, or is a stage1 install needed for a uclibc i486? Anything else needed?
This will be for a SC520 embedded processor with 64MB RAM. The glibc install actually works fine though it uses a lot of ram... _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD

You might have better results with musl. It claims to work as far back as i386 but it doesn't skimp on basic libc stuff as much as uclibc does. |

So changing CHOST to i486 and building musl instead of uclibc over a i486 glibc stage3 tends to work better than starting from scratch?
I still wonder why there's no i486 uclibc/musl stage3 autobuild available, since these machines are the ones that truly would be hurting for memory/diskspace... Most i686 machines have "plenty" of storage compared to most i486's... _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD
