Hi,

What should I do?

Code:
# emerge -p blender

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=dev-python/pyopenssl-0.14[python_targets_pypy(-)?,-python_single_target_pypy(-),python_targets_python2_7(-)?,-python_single_target_python2_7(-),python_targets_python3_4(-)?,-python_single_target_python3_4(-),python_targets_python3_5(-)?,-python_single_target_python3_5(-),python_targets_python3_6(-)?,-python_single_target_python3_6(-)]".

You need to activate python3_5 use flag, becuase 2.78a-r1 version of blender support only python3.5

Yes, when switching to the current testing python3_5 targests,
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Python/PYTHON_TARGETS
should help.

Or use on stable system the stable blender-2.72b-r4 version (this works with current stable python3_4 version).

I have something like that:
Code:
# eselect python list
Available Python interpreters, in order of preference:
  [1]   python3.4
  [2]   python3.5 (fallback)
  [3]   python2.7 (fallback)

[1] Is it possible (from yours examples above) to switch python 3.5 just for blender?
[2] From Today I have such thing - is it related?:
Code:
# emerge -puDN world

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=dev-python/six-1.10.0[python_targets_pypy(-)?,python_targets_pypy3(-)?,python_targets_python2_7(-)?,python_targets_python3_4(-)?,python_targets_python3_5(-)?,python_targets_python3_6(-)?,-python_single_target_pypy(-),-python_single_target_pypy3(-),-python_single_target_python2_7(-),-python_single_target_python3_4(-),-python_single_target_python3_5(-),-python_single_target_python3_6(-)]".

You can add to PYTHON_TARGETS variable also python3_5 and rebuild all package need this use flag, but remember that python3_5 is not stable on gentoo.

Joining this thread since I have similar issues.

I distinctly remember using a command to set the preferred version of python-3, separate from the preferred version of python-any.

I have my preferences set to go 2.7, then 3.5, then 3.4

Shouldn't emerge be picking up on this, and using 3.5?

Python3.5 the package is marked as unstable, but the USE flag for python 3.5 target is still masked in the profile. So it doesn't matter what you put down for the USE flag until you unmask the USE flag too.

So I need to make /etc/portage/package.unmask/* and stick the python3 USE flag in there?
