Hi all,

I have been banging my head for few days on this issue and I cant figured it out.

Here is what I did:
I deleted .eclipse and .metadata, then I went to window->preferences->General and checked show heap status. The heap status shows max 256M (which is way too small).

My eclipse.ini is (I increased Xms and Xmx):
Code:
-startup
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.3.201.v20161025-1711.jar
--launcher.library
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.gtk.linux.x86_64_1.1.401.v20161122-1740
-product
org.eclipse.epp.package.java.product
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
-showsplash
org.eclipse.platform
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
--launcher.appendVmargs
-vmargs
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.8
-XX:+UseG1GC
-XX:+UseStringDeduplication
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.8
-Xms1024m
-Xmx4096m

and my help->about eclipse->installation details->configuration is
Code:
*** Date: Monday, April 24, 2017 at 2:46:17 AM GMT

It looks like something is overwriting my Xms but I cant figure out what it is...

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Found it!

It looks like java default values are included after the eclipse.ini file (not sure why).
I added the following to my ~/.bashrc
Code:
## Java heap space
export _JAVA_OPTIONS="-Xmx1g"

and that did the trick.

Cheers!
