hello,
i am using Plasma 5.
my problem:
when i use auto-login the primary display (the one where the taskbar is) is completly random. i think this is because my displays take longer to detect the input than plasma takes to start.
all works fine when i start using sddm and login manually. or if i restart the display manager while the machine is running.
does anyone have any clue how to fix this? as this is a personal computer at my home i dont see a need for a login window.
# systemd-analyze time
Startup finished in 16min 32.579s (firmware) + 1.241s (loader) + 2.085s (kernel) + 867ms (userspace) = 16min 36.773s
(firmware and loader time seems wrong. kernel seems odd too - it feels faster)
i am able to reproduce this problem without auto-login when i type my password very fast (before all monitors are switched to the right input)

well
a better title may help. I assume its kde 4 or 5 with plasma. => e.g. kde 7 plasma 8 + description in very few words
next thing which gpu.
you noted systemd, but there are more packages which may cause issues
which useflags, which gpu driver, which mesa, which make.conf, which xorg.server, which kde version
Does it happen with another user. Just create a fresh one and test it! so you can rule out old files which cause issues in your home folder
personal opinion, very off topic: systemd has many issues. KDe and especially the keyword plasma has also many issues. many issues + many issues = most likely to run into more issues than anyone wants
edit: is htis related? https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1061004-highlight-.html |

So if this is off-topic, why do you feel the need to point out false facts on systemd? But in this case you might be right. systemd is "at fault", because it boots so damn fast...
OP, I presume you use Xorg still? _________________ GNOME team lead; GStreamer; MIPS/ARM64 |
