Hi everybody,

Code:

 ~ # ping 127.0.0.1
PING 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
ping: sendmsg: Bad address

Code:

 ~ # ping 8.8.8.8
PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8) 56(84) bytes of data.
ping: sendmsg: Bad address

Code:

~ # traceroute 8.8.8.8
traceroute to google-public-dns-a.google.com (8.8.8.8), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets
 1  192.168.157.1 (192.168.157.1)  1.030 ms  2.046 ms  1.460 ms

Everything is working, it's just strange.

Code:

Strace:

close(4)                                = 0
munmap(0xb77b3000, 4096)                = 0

Any ideas how to trace down to the problem?
Thanks for any hints.

Bernhard

Did this suddenly show up?

I was about to guess an alias but the strace would prove that to be false.

My current guess would be a bad kernel...but not quite sure what. Did you compile a kernel recently?

Hi,

Could it be anything related to this (vserver, old kernel):
