Xbox Controller not connecting to XB after kernel update

Since XB controllers run on batteries which then die off i've connected my XB controller to my notebook when playing with it using USB. This was working fine up until i've upgraded from kernel 4.4.6 to 4.9.6. I have not changed anything regarding USB or device section as the kernel was fine before. But the controller is behaving differently now. Prior to the update, it was simply using USB power but acted totally normal otherwise. After the upgrade, the XB button is glowing all the time and it won't start the XB or connect to it.

Has there been any change in the kernel for that matter? Is there any way to debug this or disable it?

for sure is the a change, reconfigure the kernel or diff both and compile a new one
