I see a couple PCI entries under Block Devices too, but have no way to know if either of them pertains to your system.
Code: | CONFIG_BLK_DEV_PCIESSD_MTIP32XX
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RSXX |

So just a little update - I tried with root=259:3 and that stopped during boot also. _________________ Just when you think you know the answers, I change the questions. |

I had a similar issue when booting on my nvme-drive
I did enable Code: | Device Drivers --->
...
<*> NVM Express block device
[*] Open-Channel SSD target support ---> |
That did the trick, and stated rw in my fstab on all partitions. That did the trick for me.

Although I hadn't seen the SSD option in the kernel config, it didn't make any difference, neither did specifying rw in fstab... _________________ Just when you think you know the answers, I change the questions. |

Ok so a little update on this...
A few days ago I blew away Gentoo (other reasons, not relevant to this) and loaded up another distro. This weekend I killed that and re-installed Gentoo.
After I got the initial build running, I booted with rEFInd so that I had an EFI environment to get Grub installed/configured correctly. Done this plenty of times before.
When rEFInd started, selected Gentoo as normal, and everything booted just fine, dropped me into a regular console session.
Boot directly from the nvme card, get prompted for / during bootup.
Tried rEFInd again, selected Gentoo, Grub menu comes up, boots correctly.
Back to booting from nvme and once again, prompted for / during the bootup.
So the question is, what is it that rEFInd is doing before (or as) it loads Grub that isn't happening when I just boot directly off the nvme card? There can't be anything wrong with the kernel because I'm not prompted for / during boot if I launch Gentoo from the rEFInd boot screen... _________________ Just when you think you know the answers, I change the questions. |
