If someone do a service or a task and fail - What would you say to that person?
Pre-this time:
- " You can do it!"

Now time:
- "Servitude in an asylum awaits you"

..Free choices are under scrutiny...meaning you all. I am NK 2.0

Everyone fails. It's how they learned from a failure and how it changes their future behavior that matters.

I feel you, but no good answer. Feel me?
Give applause for that brave fellow. He crossed the line!

Not like this though:

There are obviously consequences for failure, lost revenue from a botched customer interaction, broken equipment from using it incorrectly, for example. The person who failed will need to be able to absorb those consequences.

However, using your finish line analogy: Did he figure out why he didn't cross the finish line? Is he willing to learn so that he can get there? You should encourage ownership of failure and desire to improve.

But the road to success if winding with failures.

This is not about a lazer-analysis. It's about a more wide spectrum.

Lets say the plan is 'this'. Someone is said to make it happen.
He/that thing fails. What happens next? ( NK 2.0)

The feel is mutual...

Too broad of a question.

What would be less?
I put the parameter there.
What more do you ask of a question?
Apropriate?

A question needs to be within parameters that allow for an answer. Your question leaves the entire universe of possibilities for an answer. Hence, too broad.
