Not really a "GUI application," but feels like it goes here, since this is occurring in KDE, so....

Every time I plug in a device, I get the following messages on a terminal:

Code:

grepHelper: File does not exists:  "/proc/asound/card0/pcm1p/info"
grepHelper: File does not exists:  "/proc/asound/card0/pcm2c/info"
grepHelper: File does not exists:  "/proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/info"
grepHelper: File does not exists:  "/proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/info"

There are frequently other messages, as well:

Code:

"/org/freedesktop/UDisks2/block_devices/sdc" has new interfaces: ("org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Block")
"/org/freedesktop/UDisks2/block_devices/sdc" has new interfaces: ("org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Block")

I would like to get rid of them all. In the first case, there might be a problem somewhere (unsure if there is), but the second case is only a notification Is there some way of suppressing these?

curmudgeon ...

those are all coming from kconsole itself, it probably shouldn't be sending it to the child but to .xsession-erorrs. Not sure how it is disabled, but you might try running 'kdebugdialog' ... which is apparently used to "switch on/off KDE debugging information". You might also try setting QT_LOGGING_RULES="*.debug=false" in the env, and test and see if this has any effect

Code:
$ QT_LOGGING_RULES="*.debug=false" kconsole

HTH & best ... khay
