If your CD ripping is slow, taking > 5 min., try "dagrab." (Unless your CD drive is ancient and not x24.)
media-sound/dagrab can be used as a standalone CD ripper, or as a backend of abcde. (Sorry, these two are probably the all options.) By default, the ripper abcde depends on is cdparanoia (or libcdio-paranoia), but dagrab is also supported in abcde >= 2.7. For some CD drives, cdparanoia is slow for some unknown reason.
All you need is these two lines in your abcde conf file (~/.abcde.conf or /etc/abcde.conf):
CDROMREADERSYNTAX=dagrab
DAGRABOPTS="-n 127"
See Wiki page dagrab for more. _________________ Hack of easy Shift / Ctrl / AltGr etc; save your pinkies, type without drudgery: topic 865313
