step1: buy a scanner device with winxp drivers
step2: switch to win7, sorry no drivers for win7
step3: profit!
step4: as you are bore and not stupid, of course you did step3 you need a working device, but you have change from whatever company your scanner was to a different one!
step5: sorry, go to step2 ; alas if your computer cannot support another step2, add a big step3 to buy a newer one and jump again at step2 (yeah at step2, because even now you did a big step3 to change your computer and indeed the new windows run with it, alas you still cannot get the drivers for your device and you will again goes into step3 to buy a new one).
ps: note that some guys at step4 try escape the circle by switching to apple at this point, to see they get the same result with "step3 * x" this time (you know that usb device that doesn't work on non apple usb, or with apple special cable...).
ps2: if after switching to apple, and after doing many step3, you endup with : a brand new computer, a brand new os, and a brand new scanner and you are totally amaze because when you plug the scanner "it just works", you can claim to be an apple fan ; because "hey, it just works!". |

You miss the point in charging 3-5 times the price of x86 platforms by only putting the apple logo on it.
You miss the point of crappy mainboard designs, which fry your cpu.
You miss the point of everything soldered to the "main logic board", so nothing can be repaired.
You miss the point when someone fixes the broken Apple product, it is no longer an Apple product (offical statement of apple).
You miss the point of no offical schematics for Apple products
You miss the point in having a new HArdware connector for SSDs on apple "notebooks" so they can not that easily be replaced, read out and such.
You miss the feature that when you plug in something in the ports, some functionality is broken
You miss the feature that the battery estimate is not that important anymore and was just removed. (apple does not want to admit that their battery life is worse) |

You are paying for more than just the sum of the components, you are paying to be part of an exclusive club and profits are pumped back into development to continually provide the best products to meet the ever changing demands of modern life.

there is no need to repair aspects of the design. As long as the product is operated in accordance to Apple utilisation policy you shall enjoy your new Apple product for a significant period of time

There is unfortunately a high number of unsuitable repair vendors around the world who's unsanctioned modification of the product actually lowers the quality and is a detriment to the apple brand name. Approved Apple modification outlets not only ensure quality replacement parts but a service that returns your good to you as if they were brand new

such schematics our Apple's IPR. Other OEM's do not provide official schematics to their products.

to meet the demands of the typical Apple notebook user, a higher bandwidth interface was required. It is hoped that the wider consumable market adopts this vastly superior interface before it become too slow to meet the demands of Apple users data rates.

to ensure the integrity and thus the perpetual quality of the apple product, and by extension the apple name, connected peripherals must be of the highest standard.

battery utilisation must be taken on a case by case basis, especially as every end-user uses their apple product differently. Providing such numbers would only be of use if you were to use your product in the way that it was tested. What is amazing with the apple ecosystem is the new and amazing designs that can be conceived using such hardware and apple would not want to artificially distract creative minds with non representative cases

Guys, don't take it too seriously, wasn't really a rant against apple, more some joking. It's also really not related to systemd politics 
I could had also cite linux case:
step1: buy the scanner
step2: wait for the drivers
step3: wait for the drivers more
step4: wait for the drivers even more
step5: because the operation didn't involve any "step3 profit", you are now richer than before and decide to buy a brand new scanner, with highest and latest top technology!
step6: sorry, goto step2, wait for your scanner to be a miserable old device and you might have a chance to get some drivers that would handle 10% of its capabilities. |
