I'm searching for a good Wayland window manager for my Raspberry Pi 3 B. I'm running arm64 kernel. Happens that they're mostly unsupported.

Anyone using a Wayland Window Managers? If so, tips on how to get them working?

jpkc,

Unsupported does not mean does not work.
Lots of arm64 stuff works but nobody knows.

I've not tried Wayland on arm64 but KDE only had two easy bugs.

If it works, file ~arm64 keyword request bugs please

Sway seems to be supported: https://packages.gentoo.org/packages/gui-wm/sway

KDE / Plasma seems to be supported: https://packages.gentoo.org/packages/kde-plasma/kwin

Happens that I'm mostly trying gentoo unsupported RaspberryPi 3 B's arm64 packages for a while now and with a lot of success! :D

Wayland compile and installs fine. The problem is: Unlike X11, Wayland does not have a package folder associated to it. I mean: I have many window managers for X11 on Portage's /w11-wm/*, but I only managed to find gui-wm/sway listed as a Wayland Window Manager. Yes, sway works! (thanks mike155!) But sway is a tiling window manager (i3 style) and right now I'm looking for a stacking (regular) Windows manager to see how it goes on the Pi. Unfortunately there is no /wayland-wm/ folder on Portage. And a wayland search on the database shows no results.

Right now I'm failing to compile Enlightenment (see this thread https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1098484-highlight-.html). It does have a 'Wayland' use flag and there are people using it on the Pi, but not with gentoo nor in arm64 arch.

The point here is: I'd love to try unsupported stuff here, but I just don't know what window managers do support Wayland in arm64 (Well... Not even in amd64). Both Gnome and KDE seem to support it, but I think they're way to heavy for the Pi.
That's why I'm looking for arm64 Wayland users for guidance. :)
