One of my Gentoo systems is connected to a TV and when I turn the TV off for a while and then back on, about half the time it won't wake up and the TV just says there's no signal. I don't see anything interesting in the Xorg log. The problem comes and goes with package updates. I update this system infrequently so many packages are updated at once and I don't know which package is responsible when it happens. After one set of updates, 'xrandr --auto' would always bring the system back so I mapped it to a keyboard shortcut but that doesn't seem to be a fix any more.

Any suggestions as to which packages to try upgrading and downgrading?

It turns out running 'xrandr --auto' while the screen is blanked actually causes the problem at this point. I unmapped that keyboard shortcut and I can wake the system up with any key.
