I'm just curious - what is the longest uptime anyone has recorded? (Not that I think this is particularly meaningful) I just started thinking about is as I noticed one of my RaspberryPi2 machines just clicked off its 367th day of uptime:
Code:
raspberry201 log # uptime
 19:00:26 up 367 days,  2:54,  2 users,  load average: 3.97, 4.36, 3.20

I've read about systems with 16 years of uptime, but they appear to be continuing to count across periods of suspended operation, whereas I'm asking about the longest period of actual continuous operation/service delivery.

Cheers

Longest I've ever had a server running between reboots was between one and two years.

That was on an HP N6000 used as a mail, print, DNS server.

I remember seeing a server that was up for four years or so ... and we had to reboot it. -_-

Simple services though usually don't have to go down, which is nice.

$ uptime
13:43:45 up 778 days, 5:50, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.01, 0.05

I'm not going to post my uptime because I'm embarrassed of how long I've failed to update that box. It's not a Linux box.

This is fun, though: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2001/04/12/missing_novell_server_discovered_after/

Most of my high uptimes are 2.x and 3.x. After that I started being responsible with security updates.

My server just stopped responding (will go tomorrow to investigate), which was last rebooted in 2014. It is old enough that I forgot its IPMI IP address to do it remotely :)

I had a home desktop which (hard drive) died in 2007, which at the time of death had uptime around 4 years, if I remember right

Some Cisco routers are as reliable as floppy disks.

About 5.5 years of uptime thru a dozen power failures (one of which lasted 10 hours), when the server was decommissioned a few months ago. Last reboot was early 2012. But I'm not sure if that counts as "100% uptime", since it was put into suspend at the 2nd hour of that long outage.
