|
|
I just had a crazy idea...
Theoretically, would it be possible to create a script that one could run that would allow kmail to download POP3 emails from a remote server in a background, e.g. from a cron job, even when the user is NOT logged in in the KDE session??
This way the user would log into a KDE session and find the emails already downloaded into kmail's local folder.
I just browsed the net a bit and I don't see anything relevant. If nothing exists yet, would it be possible to script something to that effect?
Maybe it does not depend on kmail but on akonadi... |

The idea is not that crazy, after all.
I just found this:
* net-mail/getmail
Available versions: (4) 4.52.0
{ssl PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7"}
Homepage: http://pyropus.ca/software/getmail/
Description: A POP3 mail retriever with reliable Maildir and mbox delivery
Maybe I can use it to fetch emails and deposit them locally. But then I need the kmail filters. Maybe I can fetch mail from one local folder into the one used by kmail... |

Hmmm.... I search for getmail + kmail and the top results are multiple copies of the same 12 year old thread!!
I'm sure others have thought of doing something similar. |
