apparently, it's due for psn release in August. I heard about this soon after studio liverpool got shut down. I'll make sure to check it out. wipeout was pretty satisfying. Scratched that itch.

WipEout is my favorite AG racing series, but Redout is my favorite AG racing game. It really is amazing.

I bought a NegCon recently. I played ridge racer and wipeout 2097/XL on my ps1 with it. It blew my mind how much better it was to play these games with it. I might have a go with the wipEout. I remember it being too hard to finish, but with analog controls, it's worth revisiting.

I started playing the 2016 release of DOOM. It is an interesting game. At first I was afraid it would be a scary game, but after playing it a while I realized that the DOOM marine can be interpreted as a Christlike figure. That made the game less scary.

Mechanically the game is kind of interesting because enemies have so much health. I'm used to a single enemy dying in a few shots, but after the first few levels you need to be good at positioning yourself and the enemies and picking them off in the right order to not die.

The game is good enough I will probably go through it again on a higher difficulty after I complete it on normal difficulty.

Yeah it's great. Its the anti-cover shooter. To gain more health and ammo, you *have* to push forward and be offensive. I'd pay for some more single player dlc.

If you manage to finish it, you might be interested in a nice interview series on youtube by the development team

The book Masters of Doom was also a fun read. I grew up with Commander Keen, Doom, and Doom 2, so learning more about the creators was thoroughly enjoyable. It was interesting seeing some of the similarities between the early lives of the Johns and what I went through as a kid.

For some reason, though, I just couldn't get into the new Doom. Maybe I should try again, but not directly after a playthrough of one of the originals.

The last boss on DOOM has delayed me a bit, but I hope to watch the interview series and read the book, sugar and SiberianSniper.

Shovel Knight is pretty good. It has 8-bit artwork and music. It might be possible to describe it as Nintendo Hard. There are lots of expansions - I bought the whole thing for $25 or so, as I've been thinking about this game a while. I suggest purchasing it at GOG as they seem to have good prices and all games I have seen have a DRM-free link, while some websites like the Humble Bundle do not.

That it was made by a "Yacht Club" worries me. My stature in life is undeserving of such nice things.

I started The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt but I am not very smart and the game is very hard. I think I will finish some of the other games I purchased and come back to it, and I might even work my way through from the first game. My graphics cards are kind of old so I might buy new ones before I play it so it looks nicer. The nudity was not too scary thanks to the advice in this thread.

I just finished the hell out of Arkham Knight. This time on PS4. I've also done the same level of completion on XB1, and almost beat it on PC.

Brief Karate Foolish is free on steam and worth every penny. Particularly as a party game when you've already been drinking.

Looks more interesting than most other games I've seen in a long time.

I've narrowed down to just 3 genres :

1. Souls like : Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1 & 3, Bloodborne, The Surge, and Nioh (all DLC for all games mentioned are good)

2. AG racing : These days just being two, WipEout Omega & Redout (again, all DLC are good).

3. CTF : VulnHub & Hackthebox.eu

Normal FPS is just boring for me now, and most RPG's are just tedious. Souls like games provide all the good points of RPG with the proper challenge of a game designed for fans of real gaming.

AG racing is just pure fun. There is a nice state of mind you can enter into as you play, where everything just slows down and your flow is perfect.

And finally with CTF, I do view this as gaming. But you're using real life tools against real life simulations of systems. The best part is, you end up with improved google-fu, bash-fu, Linux-fu, and an understanding of why patching is vital.

I'd like to see the inverse game in which all patches must be tested in triplicate (dev, test, prod). All patches must be validated against legacy apps that no one can explain why they remain functional despite evidence they should not. And where downtime results in actual significant financial losses and/or significant negative impact on stock price. An expansion pack may include war rooms and upwardly cascading levels of mouth breathing management standing over your shoulder asking for updates, and don't mind if they watch? Never mind; there's a reason no one would pay for that game.
