I have a question. Hopefully comprehend able to all of us. Can someone tell me the difference to why CS-anything is so much better than most out there?
It just feels it survives and is like nothing else out there - ever. And it's a lot out there. I cannot honestly see the diff of fakk

Counter Strike is easy to pick up and hard to master, simple as that.
You got guns, the guns shoot better when you're standing, headshots do more damage. You go and try it and learn the rest from imitating better people until you have the mapsense and metagaming down.
Other games that probably deserve praise that don't get it I've found are difficult to pick up, resulting in people not wanting to learn it and quitting immediately.
After the Battle Royale mode, though, I think I'm quitting CSGO for good.

Why? you don't have to play it.
CSGO going F2P has caused a backlash but the prime aspect should isolate really new players and thus limit hackers/crachers/newbies.

Valve had to do something to counter epic entering in to distribution market and this seems reasonable. They have been milking CSGO for some time and still have the lootboxes if people want to pay.

Also if CSGO has gone free I wouldn't be surprised is HL3 is around the corner with a newer CSGO, remember CSGO is still on Source1 while DOTA2 and co have moved onto Source2 and Vulkan

TF2 went free a long time ago, no such thing happened unfortunately.

My problem is more with how they handled Prime matchmaking.
Prior to the update, Prime was achieved by:
1. Buy the game
2. Have Steam Guard on your phone
3. Be level 20 (~10 hours of gameplay?)
The especially protective criteria is the third one. Troublemakers are fine with buying multiple copies of the game to do their thing, but having to grind up to use hacks for one match before getting banned isn't up their alley. Hence, the number of hackers was relatively low.
Now, the criteria for Prime is:
1. Download the free game
2. Spend twenty dollars on Prime
This basically ruins Prime matchmaking, people already buy multiple copies of the game to smurf / have alts, and the ability to gain essentially VIP matchmaking with 0 hours in game is ridiculous.
Sure, this only isolates only the newest players now, but the ability to buy your way up with money instead of earning matchmaking ruins the whole system.
Also, Prime was automatically given to anyone who had the game prior to the update, so basically any alt account that was dormant up until that point (or any new player that just happened to have the game in their library) just got a free pass in to what's supposed to be matchmaking for verified players.

Fortnite disaster
Laine stops playing, then scores two goals after a drought for 10+ games.

Neverwinter. Played World of Tanks and World of Warships, but find them to be tedious to play. Been playing Neverwinter since about Christmas, and loving it. It is based on D&D.

If anyone familiar with Mass Effect, the play character is called Shepard. I always wondered why.
Now I think I have a good guess : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TX_JUVpuDTc

samorost 1 2 3
from https://amanita-design.net/

together with my son. i played all of these before but i barely remember the puzzles there so it is a nice retrospective.
also it is interesting how the game creators experience/quality did evolve trough the versions.

1 is for free available via the interwebs + flash (they have done all their games in adobe flash)

found this open source MIT licensed more or less free game in my local IT newspapers: https://fractilegames.itch.io/hyper-ultra-astronautics
basically it is Asteroids but the effects are more 2019. runs smoothly on my GeForce 9600 GT ;)

also it leads to some game portal=itch.io there are some titles for linux too. do we know that one? seems to be an insteresting alternative to steam where nothing is going on for linux related games....

It's just pentesting labs. Hack an invite via the front page.

that makes sense. but why would leave real hackers entrypoint in html code?
or maybe not.

It just tests minimal ability in webhacking to get a proper invite. Once you get the invite and make an account (free), you have access to the active HTB machines and challenges. Unlike vulnhub where you download VMs to hack on your own system, HTB has their targets online via VPN. It's quite fun, but challenging. Don't expect to just launch MS08-067 and get system (aside from the retired machines).

Hack your invite? If you're having issues, install hackbar on your browser.
