|
|
So far I'm starting my xfce session using startx
keyboard and mouse are working fine as the root user, but not as a regular user
the regular user is part of:
localhost ~ # id adel
uid=1000(adel) gid=1000(adel) groups=1000(adel),19(cdrom),27(video),80(cdrw),85(usb)
thanks

Perhaps "users" group?
Code: | $ id tony
uid=1002(tony) gid=1002(tony) groups=1002(tony),5(tty),7(lp),10(wheel),18(audio),19(cdrom),26(tape),27(video),80(cdrw),85(usb),100(users),250(portage),120(locate),999(plugdev),16(cron),1004(git)
|
And here's a usr that can log on to the GUI, play music, watch videos, print homework, surf the net, but not allowed to ever do anything system level
Code: | $ id jacob
uid=1000(jacob) gid=1000(jacob) groups=1000(jacob),5(tty),7(lp),18(audio),19(cdrom),26(tape),27(video),80(cdrw),85(usb),100(users)
|
And yet another. Code: | $ id cindy
uid=1001(cindy) gid=1001(cindy) groups=1001(cindy),7(lp),18(audio),19(cdrom),26(tape),27(video),80(cdrw),85(usb),100(users)
|
"users" seems to be the common thread that I didn't see in yours. |

I don't think this is a group issue any longer:
uid=1000(adel) gid=1000(adel) groups=1000(adel),5(tty),7(lp),10(wheel),18(audio),19(cdrom),26(tape),27(video),80(cdrw),85(usb),100(users)
and still the same result |

I've emerged twm, seems the problem lies within Xorg, because then again as a regular use I'm unable to use the keyboard and mouse(ctrl shift f2 does not work either) |

Pastebin and post the contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log immediately after an unsuccessful user attempt. Pastebin it before any other GUI login attempt. |

Code: | (EE) systemd-logind: failed to get session: PID 2049 does not belong to any known session |
Didn't realize this was systemd. Sorry I responded. I hope someone else will help you. |
