I am using linux 4.4.39-gentoo system and nvidia-drivers-375.26 on an amd64 system. I am running KDE Version 5.8.3 Plasma and 5.29.0 Frameworks with Qt 5.7.1. Lately both Firefox 45.6.0 and Chromium version 55.0.2883.75 have been extremely slow. It will take up to 10 seconds for a menu item to appear.

For a while I thought it could be related to the new version of Thunderbird, but I don't think that is the case, because the problem continues when I terminate the program.. I have rebooted several times.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Well have to go through the motions, not enough data:

How is your network connectivity, does it seem OK otherwise?

Did you re-emerge nvidia-drivers with the proper kernel version (/usr/src/linux -> 4.4.39) and did it load the kernel module properly?

My internet seems to be fine. Fast and responsive as usual.

Nvidia drivers was re-emerged when I upgraded the kernel a few days ago, and since X is running. I assume that it worked correctly.

It is interesting that konqueror and vivaldi seem to be responsive. They do have their usual issues, though.
