Looks like it does not work, no sound coming from it. Has anyone gotten it to work
on Gentoo 64?

There's no sound coming from it.

Well at least it actually managed to load a driver, so that's the worst part of Creative cards already dealt with...
Post the full output of `amixer`? |

That's aplay. amixer will tell whether something important needs to be unmuted. |

Creative should be card 0, not nvidia hdmi.
But no matter what card 1 does not emit anything. |

Not a whole lot there. Does toggling the IEC958 options change anything? I think that switches output between SPDIF/analogue (be careful doing this, your normal volume control is at maximum) |

No
Don't understand why it's called IEC958 in the first place.
I guess all this is pointless. This card simply does not work with Linux.
Allthough the drivers are all there, the firmware bin won't get loaded.
Although everything looks unmuted the card will not produce a single sound,
not even hissing or static.
Looks like I've bought useless junk and have to put back my old x-fi back in.
Thanks for trying to help Ant P. |

No wonder nothing works:
Code: | cat /proc/asound/card0/codec* | grep Codec

Now I have inaugurated gentoo-sources 4.7.3 but even that kernel still messages

Yet the system lists the codec just fine ( see my previous post ).
I really for the life of me cannot understand what's going on here.
I did say I'd put my old card back in but somehow I just cannot let go ...
On Ubuntu forums I found posts saying that this card does not work with 64bit kernels.
They have a workaround: put two lines in rc.local but Gentoo does not have that file.
And even if it had the file it wouldn't make sense as HD Intel ( the whole section where all the HD codecs
reside ) cannot be made a module. You can make the specific hd card within hda intel section a module, what I did
but not the whole thing.
So putting Code: | rmmod snd_hda_intel
modprobe snd_hda_intel position_fix=1 |
"anywhere" where it can be parsed won't work at all. |

I decided to give this another go with good results! After being on onboard Realtek audio for a year, my gaming audio is starting to feel muffled and incomplete. So, I put my Sound Blaster Z Express card back in and connected it to the front panel. I also updated to the latest kernel 4.9.0 and disabled all prior modprobe.d options I used in previous attempts to get it to work. And... voila! Audio is coming through the front panel headphone jack now, with all the Core3D options in alsamixer. Just had to enable the HP/Speaker option.
