Here's my hard drive partitions:

hda1 - Solaris root
hda2 - Solaris swap
hda3 - Whole disk
hda4 - Gentoo Linux /boot
hda5 - Gentoo Linux swap
hda6 - Gentoo Linux root

My silo.conf file is as follows:
Code:
Partition = 4
timeout = 50

# Gentoo
image = /boot/vmlinux
root = /dev/hda6
label = linux

# Solaris
other = /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/disk@0,0:a
label = solaris

When running silo I get:
Code:
bash-2.05b# silo
/etc/silo.conf appears to be valid
Fatal error: Cannot open second stage loader /boot/second.b
bash-2.05b#

I tried "silo -t" and got the same results. I had just the Gentoo Linux part at first and the machine boots into Linux just fine. I can't figure out how to dual boot into Solaris.

I also tired to enter the PROM and disk data string at the boot prompt in SILO and got an error having to do with ext2. Don't remember the exact wording of the error.

Suggestions cheerfully accepted.

Since I haven't received any suggested solutions, I did some more googling and found a page on Sun's site showing how to dual boot from the ok prompt. Uses the command nvalias to set up the boot paths.

I want to get rid ot whatever SILO did to the PROM. How can I get the PROM back to it's original state of booting Solaris by default? How do I do that?
