I started my Linux adventure with Gentoo as well, back in 2010, and I can say that you're in good company. :]

If there's at least a dual-core CPU inside that one, you might want to set
inside your 'make.conf' file (try also running the 'man make.conf' command, to see what it means, or/and check the wikki article “MAKEOPTS”).
As the handbook suggests, real cores +1 (that is, 3 for 2 cores) may work even better, but it seems that it might not be as much true as it was years ago (some tests on that here: blogs.gentoo.org - MAKEOPTS=”-j${core} +1″ is NOT the best optimization - Posted on January 14, 2013 by ago). _________________ Kindest of regardses. |
