Every time I open Chromium settings, it starts KWallet and demands to enter password. I don't use any password storage system. How do I permanently disable this annoying window?

kde-apps/kwalletd-15.12.3
kde-frameworks/kwallet-5.21.0
www-client/chromium-51.0.2704.103

AMD64, if it matters.

Add CHROMIUM_FLAGS="--password-store=basic" to /etc/chromium/default.

is there a similar fix for www-client/google-chrome

the /etc/chromium directory - unsurprisingly - does not exist

Nope - everything is in /opt/google/chrome but there is
no "default" file ...

Chrome uses a different launcher script to Chromium and doesn't source any files, but if you have a .desktop menu entry you can add it to that.

well - there is a google-chrome.desktop file in /usr/share/applications
but I'm not sure how to add the FLAG line

adding it to the Exec= line seems to do nothing and google-chrome still
asks for the kwallet password ...

I have added this to my KDE plasma 5 applications menu for Google-Chrome command entry:
/usr/bin/google-chrome-stable %U --password-store=basic

So far it stops the kwallet password popup.

thanks to you and others for working on this (which is more trouble than it's
worth I daresay)

but do you mean the "file association" part of the system-settings because that is
the only place I can find any reference to google-chrome

but if I try to add "--password-store=basic" to the Application Command it
will not save and reverts to the original

Also, if I try to run in a terminal "/usr/bin/google-chrome-stable --password-store=basic"
the result is an unmovable window fragment and in the terminal these errors:

Code:
[16593:16593:0712/075122:ERROR:account_info_fetcher.cc(58)] OnGetTokenFailure: Invalid credentials.
[16593:16593:0712/075122:ERROR:account_tracker.cc(357)] OnGetTokenFailure: Invalid credentials.
[16593:16593:0712/075122:ERROR:account_tracker.cc(357)] OnGetTokenFailure: Invalid credentials

EDIT: the terminal problem was because I was using ssh -X so ignore that; the command line option
does work on a local computer terminal but not sure how to make it permanent

EDIT2: OK, got it after struggling with my own stupidity - edit the application in the launch dialog
with "--password-store=basic %U" and it sticks but starting with krunner still asks for my
kwallet password (I can add the "--..." in krunner of course but obviously better to have this set
automatically ...)
