Hi Everyone:

I reduced my xfce4 desktop fonts from 12 to 11 points and it did not thing to the menus of Evolution.
Now, evolution is a Gnome app so I'm assuming there is a magix Gnome setting application I need.
I've tried dconf-editor but there are no font settings in there.

Can someone point in in the right direction so that I can reduce the font size used in the evolution menus?

Cheers,
John

Ok, so here is what didn't work:
gtk-chtheme
lxappearance

Now, a MASTER of gentoo-fu, dantrell who instructed me on how to install gnome-control-center WITHOUT having to install systemd.

Now I want to try and install gnome-tweak-tool so that I can adjust the fonts....
It tells me I need to adjust the use flags on gnome-control-center to include the networkmanager (yuk), ok, did that.
[ebuild R ] gnome-base/gnome-control-center-3.18.2:2::gentoo USE="bluetooth colord cups gnome-online-accounts i18n networkmanager* -debug -kerberos -v4l -wayland" INPUT_DEVICES="-wacom" 0 KiB

Its now happily building.

Here is the last problem...
jserinki7 jserink # emerge -pv gnome-tweak-tool

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "sys-auth/pambase[systemd]".
(dependency required by "gnome-base/gdm-3.18.2::gentoo" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "gnome-base/gnome-shell-3.18.3::gentoo" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "gnome-extra/gnome-tweak-tool-3.18.1-r1::gentoo" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "gnome-tweak-tool" [argument])

using equery I checked the dependancies of the gnome-shell...it wants to emerge half the planet....

not sure I want to go there.
Hmmmm....

Any wizards have an answer for he here?

Cheers,
John

Did this: emerge -O gnome-tweak-tool

It emerged fine...
jserink@jserinki7 ~ $ gnome-tweak-tool

ok, need gnome-shell...and mutter.

Mutter emerged normally wiht th e USE=-kms flag.

jserinki7 jserink # emerge -pvO gnome-shell

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

[ebuild N ] gnome-base/gnome-shell-3.18.3::gentoo USE="bluetooth networkmanager nls openrc-force" PYTHON_TARGETS="python3_4 -python3_3 (-python3_5)" 1,554 KiB

Looks good....give it a go...
Error....
No package 'gjs-internals-1.0' found

Ok, need to install gjs, doing it now.
Trying again....
worked.

Now trying gnome-tweak-tool and...
Ok, problems....
It want gnome shell running...
when I tried gnome-shell -r the desktop got borked (expected) but then it did this:
gnome-shell -r

(gnome-shell:9735): Gjs-WARNING **: JS ERROR: Error: Requiring Caribou, version none: Typelib file for namespace 'Caribou' (any version) not found
@resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/keyboard.js:3
@resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/main.js:20

** Message: Execution of main.js threw exception: JS_EvaluateScript() failed

I had to do xgwm4 & to get the desktop back.
Still working on this.

It works!
:)

and so what!

Turns out gnome-tweak-tool does nothing...it dose not affect the fonts in evolution at all.
Nether does lxappearance.

But the xfce4 appears DOES....I swore I already tried that?

Ok, now I need to unmerge all the useless gnome crap in installed.

I'm calling this solved.
