Anyone know why I might be getting this issue with my desktop corners not being rounded, but rather little white corners re sticking out.

That could be a symptom of your WM compositor not working. If that's the case, the middle click scroll icon in firefox will be opaque too.

So what is the default wm compositor for gnome?
if it helps troubleshoot heres my world file:
Code:
app-admin/logrotate
app-admin/sysklogd
app-laptop/laptop-mode-tools
app-office/libreoffice
app-portage/gentoolkit
dev-util/ccache
gnome-base/gnome
gnome-extra/gnome-tweak-tool
media-gfx/gimp
net-misc/dhcp
net-wireless/wpa_supplicant
sys-apps/i2c-tools
sys-apps/lm_sensors
sys-apps/mlocate
sys-apps/pciutils
sys-boot/grub
sys-kernel/genkernel-next
sys-kernel/gentoo-sources
sys-kernel/linux-firmware
www-client/firefox
www-plugins/adobe-flash
x11-themes/gnome-colors-themes
x11-themes/gtk-engines
x11-themes/gtk-engines-aurora
x11-themes/gtk-engines-experience
x11-themes/gtk-engines-flat
x11-themes/gtk-engines-rezlooks
x11-themes/light-themes
x11-themes/nimbus
x11-themes/oxygen-gtk
x11-themes/zukini
x11-themes/zukitwo
x11-themes/zukitwo-shell

and my make.conf
Code:
CFLAGS="-march=native -mtune=native -O2 -pipe"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
MAKEOPTS="-j3"
CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
USE="acpi alsa -cdr -consolekit cups dbus dlz -dvdr ffmpeg gnome gnome-shell gstreamer gtk \
gtk3 imagemagick -kde logrotate lm_sensors -qt4 -qt5 svg systemd bindist \
mmx sse sse2 networkmanager webkit"
PORTDIR="/usr/portage"
DISTDIR="${PORTDIR}/distfiles"
PKGDIR="${PORTDIR}/packages"
VIDEO_CARDS="intel fbdev modesetting vesa"
INPUT_DEVICES="evdev mouse keyboard synaptics"
GRUB_PLATFORMS=efi-64

If it's my kernel again I think I want to know how to rip the kernel and modules from a ubuntu cd and have gentoo run them cause I am sick of rebuilding my kernel.
