[Solved] Digikam fails to start under Plasma 5

I found that digikam crashed after my Plasma 5 upgrade, with a very curt message.

Installing the KDE crash handler kde-apps/drkonqi (which for some reason had vanished during the upgrade), I got a fuller, but still useless error message. Recompiling digikam with FEATURES=nostrip gave the crash handler enough info to show the problem was in the phonon backend for VLC. (This seems to be a known issue). Recompiling both media-libs/phonon-vlc and media-video/vlc fixed it. (Which is interesting - I'd aleady run emerge @preserved-rebuild and revdep-rebuild. There must be some hidden dependency between these vlc bits and Plasma or digikam.)
