The binaries for VMware don't do anything at all. They execute, but produce no output, no warnings or errors. How are these binaries used?

There doesn't appear to be any manpages as part of the ebuild of vmware. Searching online for how to use VMware refers to running some installer, but this doesn't appear to be relevant for using the Gentoo ebuild of VMware, which I'm assuming performs the installation step when it is installed. Also, doing equery files on the ebuild doesn't show any installation program. I have looked at https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/VMware/Player but it doesn't help me.

I emerged app-emulation/vmware-workstation-12.1.0.3272444-r2 with the following USE flags:

Code:

 - - bundled-libs : Use precompiled bundled libraries instead of the system installation
+ + cups         : Add support for CUPS (Common Unix Printing System)
 - - doc          : Add extra documentation (API, Javadoc, etc). It is recommended to enable per package instead of globally
 - - ovftool      : Install OVF tool.
 - - server       : Install VMware Workstation Server component.
 - - vix          : Install VIX. The VIX API allows you to write programs and scripts that automate virtual machine operations, and
run programs or manipulate files within guest operating systems.
 + + vmware-tools : Install VMware Tools images

How do I use VMware on Gentoo? What is the main binary used to execute a VM from a .vmdk file?
