I have a strange error occuring in KDE when I attach a USB memory to my laptop. I get the following pop up message in KDE:

Code:
The audio playback device alsa does not work.
Falling back to HDA Intel HDMI, HDMI 1 (HDMI Audio Output).

In the System Settings -> Multimedia -> Audo and Video Settings menu, in the right pane I have PulseAudio Sound Server as the top most preferens for Audio Playback Device in the music category. The next device (fallback?) in the list is Alsa, the thrid is HDA Intel HDMI, HDMI 1(HDMI Audio Output). For the other categories the preferred devices, in order are:

Code:
[b]Notifications:[/b] Alsa, HDA INtel HDMI, HDMI 1 (HDMI Audio Output), <followed by 7 HDMI variants>, PulseAudio Sound Server

[b]Video:[/b] Alsa, HDA INtel HDMI, HDMI 1 (HDMI Audio Output), <followed by 7 HDMI variants>, PulseAudio Sound Server

[b]Communication: [/b]Alsa, HDA INtel HDMI, HDMI 1 (HDMI Audio Output), <followed by 7 HDMI variants>, PulseAudio Sound Server

[b]Games:[/b] Alsa, HDA INtel HDMI, HDMI 1 (HDMI Audio Output), <followed by 7 HDMI variants>, PulseAudio Sound Server

[b]Accessibility:[/b] Alsa, HDA INtel HDMI, HDMI 1 (HDMI Audio Output), <followed by 7 HDMI variants>, PulseAudio Sound Server

When I highlight the Alsa preferred device and click the test button, sound works perfectly.

I have PulseAudio and Alsa installed

Code:
*  media-sound/pulseaudio
      Latest version available: 8.0
      Latest version installed: 8.0

*  sys-firmware/alsa-firmware
      Latest version available: 1.0.29
      Latest version installed: 1.0.29

*  media-libs/alsa-lib
      Latest version available: 1.0.29
      Latest version installed: 1.0.29

*  dev-python/pyalsa
      Latest version available: 1.0.26-r1
      Latest version installed: 1.0.26-r1

*  media-sound/alsa-tools
      Latest version available: 1.0.29
      Latest version installed: 1.0.29

*  media-plugins/alsa-plugins
      Latest version available: 1.0.29
      Latest version installed: 1.0.29

*  media-libs/alsa-oss
      Latest version available: 1.0.28
      Latest version installed: 1.0.28

I guess that KDE is supposed to play a sound when the USB memory is attached, but for some reason an error occurs when the sound attempted to be played through Alsa. But obvioulsy Alsa works.
