Furthermore it looked now rather like a qt5 app than an older gtk app, or ?

Switched back to 45.1.0 - which works fine.
Will wait fro a subsequent bug fix release of 46.x before I'll try that again.

I've lost my special cursor after emerging 46.
Got a small simple arrow now.
Downgraded to 45.1.0.
Same thing.
Replaced ~./firefox file with a backup from before,didn't help.
I think I'll downgrade farther.
Gerard.

In my case I've lost support for Japanese input. With Firefox-46 scim is not activated. Looks like this is very buggy version.

Well I downgraded to FF-3.8.0, put back the old config, and now I've got back my old cursor.
Gerard.

It is not so bad this simple cursor theme!
But did anyone solved this issue?

Many thanks.

Firefox 46 uses GTK3 by default. You can try emerging firefox (non -bin) with the gtk2 useflag.

I kinda solved. Worked around, better.

I was used to live with gentoo-xcursors (the purple one). Very gentooish.
But... this topic's issue.

My solution for this is creating one file called "index.theme" inside /home/youruser/.icons/default (I had to create directories) with the code:

index.theme:
[icon theme]
Inherits='your_theme'

Unfortunately this method doesn't work with gentoo-xcursors (obsolete theme?).

I found a purple theme called Breeze-Purple, so the code says
index.theme:
[icon theme]
Inherits=Breeze-Purple

This solved my issue.

A question: which theme do you use?
I think this issue doesn't occur with breeze theme.

PS. Yesterday I upgraded firefox to 47 but didn't try if issued disappeared.

PS. for Japanese input I use ibus+mozc and it works within firefox-46.
