i suggest that when emerge goes for an ebuild or rsyncs, that it look at some file on the users system to determin location, and download from that location first if their is space, and only look to more distant mirrors if a more local one is full.

i suggest this after reading the post for the NZ guys who have a international bandwidth cap, and would prefer to go local. i see this as a bandwidth saver, which i see as a "good thing"(tm)

Can't judicious settings of GENTOO_MIRRORS and SYNC in /etc/make.conf pretty much take care of this?
