all ...

We can look at it this way: canonical found a way out of the systemd lock-in, why use a cheap imitation when you can use the true, and original, implementation. ;)

So, they are attacking from multiple fronts to rot linux from inside, systemd was just first step.

I will laugh out of my chair if they have to have systemD running on windows 10 to do this.

On the other paw, if they don't and this allows me to mount nfs shares between my only windows machines(a gaming one that plays games with no or buggy linux ports, And a transformer tablet) and all my other linux machines I may check it out...

I don't think it was an april's fool joke.

As far as I can work out, it's a syscall translator. An emulator. Like wine. But instead of running win code, it runs elf code. both 32/64 bits.

And since it's running gcc and the binaries that gcc is making, then it should run any elf binary. Which includes gentoo.

It should come in handy if you are locked inside a Windows machine, but it will only run console apps for now. And NOT all syscalls are translated yet. M$ will rely heavily on our reports to improve their product.

I installed it in one desktop (had to move to Windows 10 preview for that).

Right now it seems to be mostly useless. Even /dev/null is not a character device and thus stuff such as sshd get really pissed off.

I installed ubuntu subsytem bc i wanted to chroot to my real gentoo and keep emerging.
But mounting linux parition is not possible so screw that, maybe for some computation it might be good
(I've read it has about 100% original linux speed).
It could be still useful for fast compiling instead using slow as hell msys or msys2 on windows.
