sometimes the display of my laptop freezes when I exit X (from i3 or xmonad) or try to switch from X to a TTY. The problem does not always occur and I have not found a way yet to reliably reproduce it. When it occurs, the display only displays an underscore ("_") and afterwards is frozen. However, I can still ssh into the machine or use the Magic SysRq key combinations to reboot the machine. Can you please give me some advice how to further debug this problem? I don't know how to proceed from here, since the log files do't show anyhting relevant (see below).

I had to truncate the log since it is spammed with

There are thousands of those lines. However, I also get those message in the Xorg.log when the problem does not occur.

Downgraded from x11-base/xorg-server-1.18.2 to x11-base/xorg-server-1.18.1. Problem has not reoccurred yet and the log file spam also stopped.

I do use an Intel GPU. I actually found some bug reports involving the 1.18.2. update, Intel GPU, and display or keyboard/mouse freezes - with some even reporting hard freezes (, The symptoms seemed to be different since I did not have any freezes unless I exit X or switch to a TTY.
