I'm using xfce and since about 2 or 3 days I can't run any program after a few seconds after a fresh reboot. This means I have the time to open a terminal instance and firefox or thunar, but then nothing will run anymore. So if I close the terminal I can't reopen it unless I reboot.
I've downgraded the last 2 packages that were upgraded (glib and libnotify), rebooting didn't fix the problem.
I've also noticed that I have to enter my password xfce-session (or light-dm? I'm not sure) twice in order to reach the desktop now. That happens about since I have this weird problem.
I should specify: If I had opened a terminal before the problem kicked in, I can still run "htop", "bash", "zsh" and other such programs. But I can't run firefox, thunar, gedit, pdf reader, etc. neither from the terminal and by double clicking on the desktop's icons.
Any help in tackling down the problem is welcome as the problem is so big that my system is unusuable and I've to switch to another OS (temporarily I hope).
Edit: I tried to run programs in i3-wm too, same problem. mod-d won't even start dmenu after a few seconds after a fresh boot. Same for mod+Enter.
